Insignificant disease spreads like wildfire in a Mormon community due to profound incest

Incest isn't just unholy, its unhealthy.

For those who who seem to see nothing wrong with inbreeding, this should cater to your needs.

A disease called Fumarase deficiency has become very pronounced in the conservative Mormon community along the Arizona-Utah town, famous for its incestuous inclinations.

The disorder was initially a recessive one, appearing in about one in 400 million cases, but its toll has risen staggeringly in the community, amidst calls by experts on the community to desist from incestuous relations.

Fumarase deficiency happens when a person lacks the enzyme fumarase which helps drive energy to cells. It has the most severe impact on the brain, which takes up about 20 per cent of the body's energy.
Children who have it are missing parts of their brain, can't sit or stand without help, and often suffer from seizures. Their language skills are minimal and their IQ is usually around 25.
